School Council

Democracy is an important part of how we operate at The Federation of Bursledon Schools. A key example of this is our School Council, which plays an active role in representing the views of our pupils.

The election of class School Council representatives reflects the British electoral system and demonstrates democracy in action. Candidates prepare and deliver speeches, children consider the qualities and characteristics important in an elected representative, and pupils are given the opportunity to cast their vote for who they would like to represent them.

The School Council meets every half term to discuss issues raised by different classes, ensuring that the voice of the children across the Federation is heard. These meetings often lead to meaningful discussions and have a significant impact on positive change within the school.

Currently, the School Council is promoting the WOW Travel Tracker, encouraging pupils to make active and sustainable travel choices and supporting wider school initiatives.
