Phonics Play

Phonics Play is a phonics resource which has been designed to support the teaching and practise of phonics both at school and at home. It is based on the Government recommended phonics teaching programme known as 'Letters and Sounds' which we have followed at Bursledon over recent years. The programme is broken up into six progressive phases, which help the children to understand and apply phonics, ranging from learning to hear the difference between everyday sounds heard in the world around them, learning the single letter sounds seen in the alphabet to the combination of letters that make a single sound. All of these stages are the essential building blocks to develop effective speaking, reading and writing skills which every child needs. The website is a useful resource, available for anyone to subscribe to, offering a wealth of great resources, games and guidance dedicated to the teaching of phonics.  See link below:
