E-Safety

At Bursledon Federation, we are committed to ensuring that every child develops the knowledge and confidence to stay safe in an increasingly digital world. Online safety is an essential part of our curriculum, and we embed it throughout our computing, PSHE, and wider learning. Alongside this ongoing teaching, we also dedicate focused E‑Safety weeks each year. During these times, pupils revisit key messages about responsible online behaviour, how to recognise risks, and what steps to take if they ever feel unsure or unsafe online.

We recognise that keeping children safe online is a shared responsibility between school and home. To support parents and carers, we provide access to a range of trusted resources offering practical advice, up‑to‑date guidance, and answers to common questions about online safety. These resources are designed to empower families to have open conversations, set clear expectations, and create safe digital environments at home.

Our Commitment to High‑Quality E‑Safety Education

To ensure our staff, pupils, and families receive the most current and relevant online‑safety guidance, Bursledon Federation works closely with the CEO and co‑founder of Online Safety UK. Each year, they deliver:

  • Staff training to keep our team informed about the latest developments, risks, and best practices.
  • Parent workshops offering practical advice, space for questions, and support with navigating new technologies.
  • Pupil workshops across all year groups, helping children understand online behaviour, digital wellbeing, and how to stay safe on the platforms they use.

This partnership ensures that our whole school community benefits from expert knowledge, consistent messaging, and a proactive approach to digital safeguarding.
