In Year 5, we explore significant periods and developments from both British and world history. We learn about the Space Race and its global impact, study the Tudors as an aspect of British history that extends our chronological understanding, and investigate the achievements of one of the earliest civilisations through an in‑depth study of the Shang Dynasty of Ancient China. These topics help pupils build a broader picture of how societies have developed, changed, and influenced one another over time.

Throughout the year, pupils deepen their historical understanding by making connections between different time periods and recognising important themes.
