At the Bursledon Federation of Schools we value and support the development of the social, emotional and mental health of all pupils. We are fortunate to have a dedicated Pastoral Team, all of whom are trained as Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSAs). The team is led by Mrs Clare Male, who is supported by Miss Jen Murfitt and Mr Andrew White. Some examples of the school based interventions offered include Time to Talk sessions, Lego Therapy, ELSA support, friendship groups, Nurture groups and Storylinks.
We also offer FEIPS Listens (Framework for Enhanced Individual Pastoral Support) which are individual child led sessions which are based on counselling skills at an age appropriate level delivered through the child's interests (parental agreement is needed for these sessions). The Pastoral Team predominantly support the children in school but will work with the wider family where needed. The schools have dedicated spaces for pastoral support, which are calm and cosy spaces where the children can feel safe and comfortable to share their feelings. Mrs Male is also our schools Mental Health Lead and links can be made to external agencies for additional support and advice. The Pastoral Team can be contacted via the school office.
